Small-Group Tour: Highlights of Darwin Bike Tour
Acquaint yourself with the city of Darwin with a 3.5-hour bike tour. Follow your local guide and hear about the history, people, and culture of Darwin as you cycle about the city. Enjoy a comfortable pace based on your fitness level and more personal attention with this small-group tour. Rides are flexible and can be adjusted based on weather, sights, and how far you want to go. You can expect to have frequent brief stops to see local attractions such as the Darwin Waterfront, Stokes Hill Wharf, World War Two Oil Tunnels and Memorials, and plenty of other options. Bicycles and helmets are provided as well as a bottle of water to keep you hydrated.
Meet up with your guide at 9:00 am to begin your biking adventure through Darwin. Darwin is mostly flat with some hills which will offer a fairly easy ride. The pace is set by the slowest rider to ensure no one is left behind. Expect to bike between 15-20km with frequent stops to see points of interest. You will have about 5 minutes at each stop to get a brief overview of each sight. Sights include:
- Darwin Waterfront
- Stokes Hill Wharf
- World War II Oil Tunnels
- World War II Memorials
- Chinese Temple
- Government House
- Parliament House
- Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory
- Botanical Gardens
You may also request stops at particular sights that you'd like to see along the way. Take this opportunity to orient yourself with the city and determine which sites you'd like to visit afterward on your own. You will be provided a hybrid 21-speed Avanti Discovery bike equipped with a carrier or basket for your personal items. There will be a stop for coffee along the way (own expense) to boost your energy.
After 3.5 hours of biking, sightseeing, and discovery with your small group, your tour will conclude at approximately 12:30pm with a return to the Parliament House where you will be free to explore the sights more in-depth on your own.
