You will begin your exploration of this old Viking enclave with a visit to the 700-year-old Akershus Fortress, crowning the seaside from above. Thereafter you will step out from this medieval setting towards the Oslo Town Hall, one of the city’s most iconic and well-known structures, and home to the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. We will tour inside the lavishly decorated halls of the building, allowing us a closer look into the history and culture of Norway.

The next stop on your journey is a stunning seaside viewpoint on top of the National Opera and Ballet House, which showcases the cutting edge architecture of the capital. You will be able to spot the beautiful, rugged nature at a distance on one side and the royal presence of Karl Johan Gate on the other side. A stroll down the main street takes you to the Parliament building, National Theatre and the University ensemble. Overlooking the splendor of historic town center is the Royal Palace, the residence for the present Norwegian monarch.

With its old-world Viking heritage, extraordinary natural surroundings and a modern city atmosphere, Oslo leaves an big impression on visitors near and far. At the end of the tour, you have the option to return to the ship or stay in town at your leisure for shopping, a coffee in a seaside cafe, or for more exploration on your own.
