Pululahua Crater Horseback-Riding Tour
Prepare for a fantastic horseback riding tour on the magnificent Pululahua Crater. Pululahua is an ancient volcano that on its last eruption (around 2500 years ago) left a beautiful and enormous caldera with vast fertile soil. The huge crater has 34 square kilometers of extension and has ample green flat lands. The lava dome rises 500 meters above the crater floor and is covered in lush cloud-forest vegetation. This ancient volcanic crater is one of the largest in the world, and the biggest inhabited one in South America.
In the morning we start driving north to the ranch. Once we arrive, we begin the ride with robust and amicable Andean horses they will take us through stunning landscape, this crater is the biggest one on the whole American continent and one of only two inhabited craters in the world.
While continuing the ride you will discover that the landscape is constantly changing with huge biodiversity. When circling the central lava cone, we will witness volcanic history, interesting geological formations, mineral avalanches blooming with wild orchids and traditional Andean agriculture. The horseback riding length will be approximately 4 hours. We will have a delightful lunch with panoramic view over valleys and cloud forest covered mountains.
