Private Full-Day Tour to Cotopaxi from Quito
Follow the Avenue of the Volcanoes (La Avenida de los Volcanes) to find the majestic volcano Cotopaxi on this 10-hour private day trip from Quito. Stop at an local indigenous market on the way to Cotopaxi National Park, where you'll hike a trail to Jose Ribas and around Limpiopungo Lagoon near the second highest active volcano in the world with a summit 19,347 feet above sea level. Begin your tour with pickup by private vehicle from your hotel in Quito at 8am (or another time agreed upon in advance), where you'll meet your bilingual guide. Drive south for around 2 hours toward the province of Cotopaxi, with a stop at an indigenous local market, where you can shop for local products. The particular market you visit depends on the day of the week; the Pujili Indigenous Market is open on Sunday and Wednesday, the Saquisili Indigenous Market is open on Thursday, and the Zumbahua Indigenous Market is open on Saturday.
After you've explored the market, continue driving through the Andean highlands and into Cotopaxi National Park. Gaze up at the snowy peak of the volcano 19,347 feet above sea level, and enjoy a short hike to the Jose Ribas mountain refuge, located 15,912 feet above sea level. Finish your visit to the national park with a trek around Limpiopungo Lagoon, where on a clear day you can see the active volcano reflected on the surface of the water.
Return to your hotel in Quito at around 6pm. Food, drinks, entrance fees, and insurance are at your own expense.
