Plovdiv and Starosel Full Day Trip from Sofia
Explore the Bulgarian history and traditions by joining a full day excursion to the second largest city in Bulgaria. Stroll along the cobbled streets of the charming Old town in Plovdiv. In the morning transfer to Plovdiv by minivan or minibus depending on the number of passengers (about 2 hours drive from Sofia city). Plovdiv's history spans 6,000 years, with traces of a Neolithic settlement dating to roughly 4000 BC, ranking it among the oldest cities in the world.
The town is not only ancient, but also artistic and spiritual, and is chosen to be the European capital of culture in 2019.
Upon arrival, you will take a walking tour at the Old Plovdiv, including entrance to the Antique Amphitheater. You will see also many other interesting places from different periods, like old churches, Roman remains, preserved houses representing the National Revival architecture (18th-19th century). Take a break for lunch. Your guide will recommend you a few local restaurants where you can try delicious Bulgarian dishes.
The tour continues with visit to Starosel Thracian tomb (4th-5th century BC). Following wine tasting at Starosel wine cellar. In the afternoon return to Sofia full with amazing memories from the day trip.
