Ida Bay Railway Tour
Step aboard a World War II–era diesel locomotive for a 2-hour train journey alongside the water’s edge. The Ida Bay Railway takes you through a bush landscape and includes a history discussion from a guide at a historical cemetery. Select a tour time when booking.
The heritage-listed Ida Bay Railway is one of the last operating bush tramways in Australia.
Your tour starts as you board the train and travel along a track to Deep Hole, where you can hop off for about 15 minutes to stroll along the beach or walk to the Southport Lagoon. When you're on board, enjoy the bush scenery, and make a stop at a graveyard for a history talk from your tour guide, who is dedicated to showing you the hidden gems of the area.
If you're hungry, the cafe offers a diverse menu including homemade burgers, fish and chips, freshly ground coffee, and even some Tasmania Valhalla ice cream (own expense).
