10-Day Kimberley 4WD Experience from Broome to Darwin

This interactive 4WD safari includes all the big Kimberley attractions, such as the Bungles Bungles, Mitchell Falls, Elquestro and the Gibb River Road. This tour gives you the unique opportunity to experience the Australian Outback while walking, swimming and sleeping under the stars. You can expect to be treated to luxury 4WD travel, entry to all national and wilderness parks, and your professional guide with 20 years Kimberley experience taking care of you while providing quality broad interpretation of all destinations.This is predominantly a camping tour, accommodation can be organized for some nights on request (at additional cost). Private Tours are available for groups of up to six adults, or families of up to seven members including children.

Day 1 (L,D)
Depart at 7am for the heart of the Kimberley. Visit the remote town of Derby then head straight for the Gibb River Road. Stop off to view a 1500y old Boab prison tree. Explore Tunnel Creek, the Napier Range and the 350 Million Year old Devonian reef system exposed in the area. In the late afternoon, arrive at Windjana Gorge to enjoy your first Kimberley sunset.

Day 2 (B,L,D)
Hike into Bell Gorge, one of the most popular Kimberley waterfalls. After a swim and snorkel, travel south through Mount House Station towards the southern King Leopolds and Mornington Wilderness Camp. The drive towards the Fitzroy River Valley will reveal the King Leopold Ranges as one of the most striking features of the Kimberley.

Day 3 (B,L,D)
Spend the whole day exploring Mornington; 4WD, hiking, swimming and canoeing. Begin the day with a morning canoe expedition, swim and exploration at Diamond Gorge. Take an afternoon 4WD sunset safari to Sir John Gorge with the opportunity for a sunset swim, and a chance to witness one of the most colorful and striking Kimberley sunsets!

Day 4 (B,L,D)
Indulge at Galvans Gorge, a small plunge pool nestled in a soft lush environment. Then hit the Gibb bound for the Mitchell Plateau with a stop at Drysdale River Station. Arriving at the King Edward River, explore the many cultural and rock art sites in the area. Finish today with a refreshing swim in the crocodile free waters of the King Edward River.

Day 5 (B,L,D)
Today spend most of the day hiking, swimming and exploring the natural and cultural values of the Mitchell Plateau and Falls, its striking landscapes, stunning water features and ancient intricate rock art. There is another opportunity for a helicopter flight over the Mitchell Falls area (own expense).

Day 6 (B,L,D)
Visit Ellenbrae Station for a swim in a pristine waterhole, then travel onto Home Valley Station, nestled in the mighty Durack Ranges. Take a sunset safari to the crest of the Pentecost Range to enjoy the East Kimberley’s most notorious panoramic vantage point.

Day 7 (B,L,D)
Explore Elquestro Wilderness Park and hike into Emma Gorge to arrive at a tall waterfall in a lush tropical paradise. Next drive through the Carboyd and Durack Ranges and continue on towards Purnululu NP/ the Bungle Bungles. End today at one of the Parks great sunset vantage points.

Day 8 (B,L,D)
Spend the whole day hiking the Bungle Bungle Range, trek Piccinnini Creek, Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm. Take a helicopter flight to view the surrounding landscape (own expense).

Day 9 (B,L,D)
Head towards the Northern Territory, stopping in Kununurra, a buzzing East Kimberley hub that hosts some excellent aboriginal art galleries and cafes. Continue east to camp at Judbarra (Gregory NP) in the Victoria River District, displaying some of the most dramatic sandstone escarpment in Australia.

Day 10 (B,L)
Visit the gorgeous Edith Falls for a hike, swim and picnic lunch before traveling to Darwin, where we transport you to your accommodation.
